Welcome to the Technology, Innovation & the Future of the Creative Curriculum Conference 2026.
As a founding member and co-chair of the Society for Music Production Research (SMPR), I am dedicated to defining and expanding the field of music production studies globally. My research sits at the intersection of media history, material culture, and music consumption, with a specific focus on the listener.I challenge established narratives around the vinyl revival by exploring the gendered and consumerist dynamics of physical music formats. This work is consolidated in my most recent monograph, The Vinyl Revival, Gender, and Collecting Aesthetics (Routledge, 2025), which builds upon my earlier work on collecting identities and practices.
Beyond research, I provide operational leadership in academic governance and policy. I specialise in interpreting complex academic regulations to safeguard standards while ensuring equity for students. My work bridges the gap between rigid institutional policy and the nuanced reality of creative arts education, focusing on retention strategies and support for neurodiverse and non-traditional learners.
I serve on the editorial board for The British Pop Archive book series (Manchester University Press) and hold a broad background in the humanities, integrating film studies and cultural theory into my pedagogy.
